Lorena is a senior at Georgetown University majoring in Psychology and minoring in Cognitive Sciences. Since January 2004, she has worked at the Early Learning Project, but her interest in volunteering dates to her high school at the Academia Interamericana de Panama in Panama City, Panama. During that time, her love for children led her to participate on many volunteer programs like Special Olympics, Operation Smile, Nutre-Hogar and Panama Public Children's Hospital. Through her two years of college, she has participated in programs such as after school Kids Program and Best Buddies. Nevertheless, Lorena's interests extend beyond volunteering; she is currently the Director of Academic Affairs, officer at the Latin American Student Association and President of the Psychology Students Association. During the summer, Lorena initiated a Learning Enterprises Program in her home country. Lorena's passion is children and ultimately, she hopes to utilize her academic training to expand the opportunities available to children in Panama and improve the educational system.
